With you, I never second guessed, I saw you and knew you were the one, “my other half”, “my missing rib”, “the melody that completes my song”, the beating of my heart echoing the very syllables of your name.

Love looked at me and said “Yinmu”

I yearned for you, yearned for what we would be, how we would sync, I treasured moments with you, romanticising the very sound of your breath.

While Love stared and rolled her eyes.

I saw desire, I saw a yearn, I saw security, I saw comfort.

Then!! Love took pity on me and taught me this:

Love turned my gaze to the left to see that you were not right for me, Love took a trip up to cloud nine and brought me down to earth, It said “I know you are looking forward to forever but look behind you, you never mattered”

Love put a weight so heavy on my heart, I felt light-headed.

But Love was kind, love held my trembling hands and taught me how to let you go.

And now I am free from unrequited “me+you”. And you are free to go to who you truly choose.

Love taught me to love myself true and true, to leave the pool of denial that was “me and you”, to believe that I was no fool and trust that it was teaching me truth.

I love Love, this love taught me to choose strength, to cradle wisdom and to walk away with scars on my heart like fine embroidery because I never lost all I ever did was love and that was enough. -Ese
