WHAT LOVE TAUGHT ME WEDNESDAY
Forever? What a lie! When love arrived, I clung to the desperate hope it would stay, praying promises wouldn’t crumble into mere wishes. But the universe doesn’t care; my prayers just hang suspended in the atmosphere.
I am furious! But where do I turn my anger? To time, for the illusion that me and you would last? To your promises, for being all too real? No! The blame falls on me! For every red flag I painted white, every warning sign I willingly ignored.
Second chances? They are truly for fools, and I was a fool! Your tears, your uncontrollable tremble – I thought I saw pain in your eyes when you apologized. But you’ve always had your way with words, sweeping me off my feet and straight into boiling lava. God, it hurts!
But you could only get to me for so long. On a rainy Wednesday, with my heartbreak playlist on repeat, a different kind of Love saved me. It arrived on the wings of Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF,” a complete transfiguration!
A part of me will always love the person I thought you were, but as Asa sings in ‘Moving On,’ “I know I can’t change the past, but as the river keeps flowing, I’ll keep moving on.” It’s truly time to soar. My broken wings are healing, and soon, I’ll fly again. May our paths never cross, neither on this earth nor in any other realm! – Ese
